Strong academic record required (e.g., GPA ~7.5/10 or equivalent) for many scholarships.
You may only apply for one UM scholarship.
Some age limit criteria apply (for example, not older than 35 years by certain date for Master’s).
Deadlines & Application
For many scholarships: application opens 1 October (or earlier), closes 1 February (23:59 CET) for intake starting September next year.
Make sure to check if your chosen programme is participating/eligible for the scholarship (some programmes may be excluded).
Process: Apply for Master’s/Bachelor’s → get Student ID → submit scholarship application form by deadline.
⚠️ Important Notes / Things to keep in mind
Very competitive: only a small % of applicants get the major scholarships. For example: “only ~2% of applicants get the NL-High Potential Scholarship”.
Even if scholarship covers tuition + living, you must check any additional costs (visa, flights, personal expenses) and whether the scholarship really covers all of them. For instance: living expenses, insurance etc are specified.
Make sure your programme is eligible and you meet all criteria (nationality, residence permit issues, no prior Dutch degree etc). For example, for Brightlands: “you have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands”.
Deadlines & requirements differ by scholarship & programme – always check the specific page.
- Since you’re from India (non-EU/EEA), this fits you for many of these, but you must check Indian degree equivalence etc for UM.
